BIGGER PICTURE - The Rescues (Forte A Cappella)

Image
I came across this amazing a capella group out of Centerville, Ohio today!  Forte A Cappella www.forteacappella.com Definition of a cappella : without instrumental accompaniment The song is called Bigger Picture and is by The Rescues : The Rescues are an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2008. Their music can be classified as indie pop/rock, and is notable for its use of three and four-part vocal harmonies. Here are the lyrics: All of the oceans Drops of rain Each one is different All are the same All of the mountains Stones unturned Dreaming of sunlight To once more burn All of your memories Haven't yet happened All of your battles Already been won All of your questions Will be answered Every possibility Divided by one There's a line drawn through time There's a face You're gonna recognize Though you've never looked Inside their eyes You'll say you've waited You'll say there y...

I Am Lost

"I Am Lost" as read by Wayne Dyer in The Secrets to Manifesting Your Destiny A woman is dying of AIDS. A priest is summoned. He attempts to comfort her, but to no avail. “I am lost,” she said. “I have ruined my life and every life around me. Now I’m going painfully to hell. There’s no hope for me.” The priest saw a framed picture of a pretty girl on the dresser. “Who is this?” he asked. The woman brightened. “She is my daughter, the one beautiful thing in my life.” “And would you help her if she was in trouble or made a mistake? Would you forgive her? Would you still love her?” “Of course I would!” cried the woman. “I would do anything for her. Why do you ask such a question?” “Because I want you to know…” said the priest.  “That God has a picture of you on his dresser.”

When the World Falls In Love

Image
I know we're going into Thanksgiving week but I wanted to take a moment to talk about my favorite holiday--Christmas. Yes, Christmas is my favorite holiday! Why? Because the world seems to fall in love around Christmastime... Because I feel the warmth and joyful spirit of man... Because I feel a sense of renewed hope... As we prepare for this holiday season I read the children's book The Spirit of Christmas by Nancy Tillman tonight. She put it this way: "That's when the Spirit of Christmas smiled. 'Remember, this all began with a child. Because it took nothing but love to begin it, it's not really Christmas if love isn't in it.'" I hope you feel a spirit of love around you this holiday season! Blessings to you and those you love!

Hang On

Image
As I finished reading Pushing Up People by Art Williams last night, I came across a great quote! Just had to share... "When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on."  - Franklin Roosevelt Happy Friday Everyone!

Decisions, Decisions

I am currently reading Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins... and I just read a paragraph that I have to share.  I've read it multiple times, and it is SUPER exciting!   So exciting, that I wanted to share it with you: "You must know that in any moment a decision you make can change the course of your life forever:  the very next person you stand behind in line or sit next to on an airplane, the very next phone call you make or receive, the very next movie you see or book you read or page you turn could be the one single thing that causes the floodgates to open, and all of the things that you've been waiting for to fall into place." POWERFUL! :)

There is Always Hope

The Hope of Life

A fellow Academy grad from the class of 2002 died recently.  I know his face, but I did not know him. I think about having seen him in the past and to now know the date of his death.  He came and he went.  His life was so finite.  He was 32... I am 33. I watched a movie last night called Big Fish .  In it, Edward Bloom looks into the all-seeing eye of the town witch and sees the day of his death.  Knowing how he is to die affects the choices he makes in life and the perspective he has.  "This isn't how I go," he would say time and time again and he would charge forth into another daring adventure.  I feel like I have a lot to give this world... through my art, my writing, and by leading people.  I've said to my husband many a time, if God takes me I will tell him I'm not done yet and ask his permission to continue on this earth a little bit longer.  My perspective may change as I get older.  But as of now, it's time ...

Daily Devotional

"Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." - Psalm 51:12

Daily Devotional

I have been feeling a little lost lately... a friend is going to send me a Bible verse to read everyday. Yesterday's was: "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."  - Philippians 4:13 Today's is: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  - Jeremiah 29:11 Make it a great day everyone!

The Power of Belief and Hope

"At first people refuse to believe that a strange new thing can be done, then they begin to hope it can be done, then they see it can be done--then it is done and all the world wonders why it was not done centuries ago."  - Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

Hope Dealer

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to interview a gentleman for my business. He was an older fellow... although, what does that really mean anymore? Perhaps in his mid to late 50's? I sat with him and discussed our business model, how we get paid, etc. always careful not to regale prospective agents with the merits of joining with us over any other insurance agency. That is not my goal. My goal is to lay out the facts as they are. I don't want everyone in my business; to each his own as they say. The gentleman showed a degree of interest and then I decided as is my tendency, to probe a bit deeper... to discover his dreams, goals, and aspirations for the future. For at the heart of these lies the true heart of an individual. Applications, appointments, dials etc. are part of the process but what makes a lasting effect on an individual, what keeps them in the game so to speak is not the business... it is their broader vision of themselves and the hope--the hope that they can o...

HOPE

HOPE is like a bird that senses the dawn and carefully starts to sing while it is still dark. - Anonymous If you do not HOPE, you will not find what is beyond your HOPEs. - St. Clement of Alexandria HOPE never abandons you; you abandon it. - George Weinberg Once you choose HOPE, anything's possible. - Christopher Reeve The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason for HOPE. - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to HOPE for. - Allan K. Chalmers HOPE is the companion of power, and mother of success; for who so HOPEs strongly has within him the gift of miracles. - Samuel Smiles HOPE is faith holding out its hand in the dark. - George Iles Keep laughing. As long as you're laughing you still have HOPE. - Moe Howard While there's life, there's HOPE. - Cicero HOPE sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible. - Anonymous At first we HOPE too much...
